Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a Visa?

Yes. Check the travel page for details on acquiring a Visa as a U.S. citizen.

Can I bring a plus one?

We adore all of our friends, but we are keeping our wedding to an intimate celebration. We have addressed the invitations to the specific people we would love to have join us. If your invitation says “and Guest,” then you are welcome to bring a date. Otherwise, we kindly request your solo presence!

Is it safe in Brazil?

Yes! São Paulo is a wonderful place, but like any major city in the world, it's important to be aware of your surroundings. We recommend not wearing flashy jewelry, keeping your phone out of sight when not in use, and sticking to well-lit, populated areas at night. Using rideshare apps is generally safer than hailing a cab on the street. All of our wedding events will be held in safe and secure locations.

Where should we stay? Do you have a hotel block?

We are working on reserving a block of rooms at a special rate, please check the Accommodations page for updats. Alternatively, the São Paulo has many fantastic areas that offer great hotels and Airbnbs close to all the festivities.

Will you be providing transportation for the wedding events?

Yes! We will be providing shuttle service from São Paulo to the wedding venue. Please check back for details.

Do I need any specific vaccinations?

We recommend you consult your doctor or a travel clinic at least a few months before your trip for the most up-to-date health advice for traveling to Brazil. You can also check the CDC's website for traveler health recommendations.

Can I drink the tap water?

We advise against drinking tap water. Stick to bottled water, which is readily available and inexpensive everywhere. It is perfectly safe to use tap water for brushing your teeth.

Should I rent a car?

No. The driving is Brazil is difficult to get accustomed to and there are motorcyclists that don’t follow the laws. It’s best to take an Uber wherever you go. Do not hail cabs or accept rides from any unofficial service, only order Ubers.

When should I RSVP by?

Please RSVP through the "RSVP" tab on our website by 31 December 2025. This is very important so we can give our vendors a final headcount.

What about electrical outlets?

Brazil uses power outlets type N, which have two round pins and a third grounding pin. The standard voltage is typically 127V or 220V depending on the region. We highly recommend bringing a universal travel adapter to charge your devices.

Will my phone work in Brazil?

Check with your mobile provider about international roaming plans. A more affordable option is often to purchase a local Brazilian SIM card (from providers like Vivo, Claro, or TIM) at the airport or a local shop. You will need your passport to register it. Most hotels and many cafes offer free Wi-Fi.
